May 5

After breakfast, Tony stayed at Spacehouse working on his mini-workbench.

The vice is now “perfected”, some scrap pieces of wood + two G-clamps. It holds the pieces surprisingly well. Jigs can now be manufactured for making the various pieces of a chair.
Joanna went for a walk with Hannelie to the nearest shop some 300 metres to the left once you reach the road downhill.
It’s called Aarohi Nature Shop and they sell soaps, juices, spices, handknitted socks and toys that are all made in the region by locals.
The shop has a lovely view.
By coincidence, we met a couple who turned out to be working friends and each had a residency at the Aarohi house just beside the shop. Chinmen and Adete told us they were working for the organisation Aarohi that had actually initiated The Nature Shop and educated local people to make the nice ecological merchandise for sale. The organisation had been running for 30 years in different parts of the country.
We passed a beautiful roof on our way back.
We passed a few more houses before ascending to Spacehouse again.
In the afternoon, Joanna found yet another great spot to be sitting while crocheting, on a comfy chair on the porch near the pomegranate tree.
