As the staff was off as it is Sunday, it was Tony’s pancakes for lunch!In the afternoon, we were invited to Pradeep and Shubah where Emily was to hold a quilting lesson for local women. We passed this building on the way, which seemed to be a school according to the painting on the wall.At Pradeep’s and Shubah’s, Emily started out by showing the ladies the two quilts she has done while at Spacehouse. Here is the tulip…… and here is the mango.
She then showed the women how she makes the stitching for the quilts.
Most of the ladies have been crocheting before, as many of them make socks, toys and other stuff for the Aarohi Nature Shop, but never quilting. Except Gita, who was quilting already when we arrived. Here Emily is praising the nice stitches made by Jankie who was selling products at the shop when we were there earlier last week.Pradeep invited us in to see his and Shubah’s home. Note the small Ganesha relief figure on the wall.This house is called Dak bungalow and was built in 1905 by the British. Pradeep and Shubah bought it when it was completely dilapidated and renovated it all. They are now renting it out to people who want to visit the region.Here is a window part that has been nicely renovated after people had been stripping it from its windows before Pradeep and Shubah came here.Then we had some black and chai tea by the beautiful flowers. In the background, there is a big horse chestnut tree under which the British used to have gatherings.Rema is having one of the Bun aloo patties that Shubah and Pradeep made for us. It was a kind of vegan burger with a potato patty and some tomato salsa salad that was delicious! Above Shubahs head is a nice painting of Ganesha.Pradeep is sometimes making embroideries, he told us. And showed us some coasters he made during the past five years.
Homewards again to Spacehouse with Sanjay the taxi driver, Kishan was waiting for us with umbrellas at the bottom om the climbing path uphill! After huffing and puffing some more (Joanna), we saw that Tony’s seat was beginning to assume its final shape.
Hannelie suddenly shouted out and came running past the workshop studio where Tony makes his chair. She had finally spotted the snowy mountains in the distance.We were all quite excited as we could finally distinguish them from afar. Tony got the big objective out while Hannelie came back from the house with some sundowners.Although the mobile camera doesn’t make it any justice, we were all quite happy to have spotted the snowy mountains.
Yeah, the big objective came a little closer, but the handler clearly need some lessons in evening-mountain-photography. Hopefully the clear weather stays on until tomorrow, then those 7-8k peaks, about 80-100k to the east of us will be fully captured.
