Today is our last working day and Joanna has been crocheting these organic forms in the finer fishing line and crochet-hook the past days. They are about the sizes of oranges.
At Priti’s, this still life will remain on the table in our bedroom: the small sculptures are in the shapes of an egg, a cocoon and a minimal flying saucer. Today’s bird looks like a crow. Anyway, keeping the mosquitos at bay this the last working day before departure to Delhi.In the afternoon, Hannelie was preparing for her work next week in Johannesburg by the computer, in the midst of all her drawings of the langurs made out in nature of the subjects on pages of old books.Emily was squeezing lemons for her lemon cake for the evening’s pizza party.
The “hawk-eyed” among y’all might notice the bandage on Tonys’ left index, more on that later. Anyway, the chair is now officially deemed impossible to complete before departure and Tony is joined this last full workday by the local carpenter Ranjeet who is very skilled in carpentry and will complete the chair.
Tony and Ghanshyam talk about the last amendments, as Ghanshyam is speaking English and can tell Ranjeet who has gone home for the day.
In the evening, we had an open fire, awaiting the pizzas that were about to get loaded into the oven, and sat outside in the warm evening. The doctors Robert and Peilin were visiting, as well as doctors Sushil and his family a bit later.The razor-edge-chisel vs left index resulted in a need for stitching and by pure luck and a little co-planning by Joanna and Priti, the amazing doctors had brought all the necessities for this small operation. Clearly an act of some higher being to coincide these two events at the same day.Sensitive viewers are advised to skip this video…Some time just right after the stitching, we began Open Studios with Ned showing us his work. Here he talks about the brightly painted houses in the surroundings which have been translated into colourful circles in this painting.Emily tells us about her quilts and shows us the big mango here. Here we are watching Nidhi’s paintings which have been painted partly in silver leafs that will slowly oxidize and turn into blue over time and gold leafs that will stay golden.Nidhi usually visits places and stays for a while to get to know and paint the different local plants. Here is a larger painting of the Kafal tree, also partly in silver and gold and that actually folds into a book. The berries which we have had many times as mini-desserts.Here we are in the library watching Hannelie’s monkeys, while we also got to know a bit more about her participatory environmental large-scale works.Sushil and his wife Sima together with their daughter are having a closer look. And tomorrow, most of us are leaving for Delhi!
